On July 25, 2010, Mr. Katsuya OKADA

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Japan visited Radar Tower at DMH Headquarters. The Minister gave a courtesy call for Mr. Singthong Pathoummady, Deputy Director Genneral of DMH, and listened to an explantion on the activities of the project for Establishment of Disaatrous Weather Monitoring System, especilly on using of Radar products for weather of monitoring. This project is under the Grant Aid from people of Japan. The Deputy Director General also extended this hope to continue and recive cooperation from the people of Japan.

Seminar for the mass media and line agency

On 19 January 2010, the Department of Meteorology
and Hydrology through the JICA Technical Cooperation Project
organized a Seminar for the mass media and line agency at the
new conference building in DMH, the participants from mass media
around Vientiane Capital and Luangprabang, Xaiyabouly, Vientiane,
Bolikhamxai and Khammouan,Department of Irrigation/Ministry of
Agriculture and Forestry,and some of DMH staff also joined this
seminar, the total participant is around 45 people.

The purpose of this activity is to supply the basic knowledge
to them so that they will become able to use information effectively
to contribute the protection of peoples’ lives and property
